Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will continue to suffer defeats unless it resolves its internal problems.
Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Friday, the former Rivers State governor said the wave of defections in the party was expected, adding that he had long predicted the crisis.
“From the beginning, I said if things continue this way, PDP will keep losing. What I said has all come to pass,” Wike stated. He described the situation as “very embarrassing,” citing recent defections involving key party figures.
Wike also criticized the party leadership for sidelining him in its current reconciliation efforts, saying he still deserves consultation despite no longer being a governor.
“Because I’m now FCT Minister, you think I shouldn’t be part of PDP meetings? After all I’ve contributed to the party?” he asked.
Wike, who has been working with President Bola Tinubu’s APC-led administration, denied engaging in anti-party activities, insisting his focus is on national development rather than partisan politics.
