The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, saying the results of Saturday’s area council elections reflect the confidence his administration has inspired among residents.

Speaking in Abuja on Sunday, Wike highlighted the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s strong performance, winning five of the six chairmanship seats in the elections. The APC secured victories in Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Kuje, Abaji, and Kwali, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won Gwagwalada.

Wike described the outcome as evidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda has restored optimism and trust in governance among FCT residents. He also noted that the peaceful conduct of the polls showcased the electorate’s commitment to democracy.
He expressed gratitude to residents for supporting what he called a “renewed and credible democratic process,” and commended all candidates for upholding democratic values. According to him, the election demonstrated the roles of both the ruling party and the opposition in Nigeria’s democracy.

The minister also acknowledged President Tinubu’s dedication to improving lives in the FCT and praised his efforts to strengthen democratic institutions, including support for amendments to the Electoral Act aimed at ensuring credible elections.

Wike further congratulated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a free, fair, and transparent election, and thanked security agencies for maintaining peace throughout the process.

He urged elected officials to serve their communities with humility and dedication, pledging that the FCT Administration would continue delivering development and the dividends of democracy under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
