The UK announced on Monday that RAF Typhoon jets will soon begin air defence patrols over Poland as part of NATO’s Eastern Sentry mission, following escalating aerial threats from Russia. The move comes after 23 Russian drones violated Polish airspace last week.
Kremlin propagandist Vladimir Solovyov responded with chilling threats, warning RAF pilots of death if they fly missions in Poland. On his primetime show, Solovyov also falsely claimed that France could be sending nuclear-capable Rafale fighters to Poland under President Emmanuel Macron’s orders.
“The British want to die, so they also want to take a walk over the skies of Poland,” Solovyov declared. “Typhoons will begin flying here in the coming days. Don’t run into the [French] Rafales. Lord, where are we going to bury you all?”
While admitting the French fighters arrived without nuclear payloads, he claimed, without evidence, that they “can be delivered at any time.” He went further, threatening: “Paris, wait for the nuclear dawn. This is a serious escalation. Each takeoff must be seen as the beginning of nuclear war.”
The televised threats came just a day after Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserted that the West is now “de facto at war” with Russia. “NATO is at war with Russia. This is obvious and requires no further proof,” he said.
Moscow has reinforced its warning signals with military muscle, flying Tu-160 strategic bombers over the Barents Sea in a show of strength tied to the ongoing Zapad-2025 war games.
Meanwhile, Russia intensified its assaults on Ukraine. Drone strikes set ablaze a massive logistics warehouse known as Epicentre, while a gas distribution station in the Sumy region was also hit. A Shahed drone attack caused huge plumes of smoke to rise, underscoring Moscow’s relentless targeting of civilian infrastructure.
