Yorubaland Welcomes the World: Tourists from 5 Nations Hail Nigeria’s Beauty, Culture & Hospitality.
By the National Patriots.
Nigeria’s reputation as a vibrant tourist destination received a major boost this week as a group of international tourists from five countries wrapped up an unforgettable 8-day cultural tour across Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States in Southwest Nigeria (Yorubaland).
The group, made up of travelers from Germany, Brazil, the United States, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, explored iconic sites such as Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Mapo Hall and Bower’s Tower in Ibadan, and the Nike Art Gallery and Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos. They also immersed themselves in traditional Yoruba music, cuisine, festivals, and fashion.
“We never imagined this level of warmth, beauty, and cultural depth. Western media truly misrepresents Nigeria,” said Maria Kepler, a tourist from Germany.
The visitors praised the world-famous Yoruba hospitality, delicious local dishes like amala, efo riro, and suya, and the welcoming spirit of the people. Several expressed their reluctance to leave, vowing to return soon—and to bring more friends next time.
“I’ve traveled across Africa and beyond, but Yorubaland has something truly magical. This is not my last visit,” said James Bennett from the UK.
The visit is part of a growing trend of cultural and heritage tourism in Nigeria, particularly in the Southwest, which continues to attract global travelers eager to experience authentic African traditions, royal history, and modern urban life.
With improved infrastructure, rising global curiosity, and strategic promotion, Yorubaland is quickly becoming one of West Africa’s top cultural tourism gems.
“Yorubaland is not just a destination—it is a living archive of Africa’s soul, where history, hospitality, and heritage embrace the world. Every tourist that walks its paths becomes an ambassador for Nigeria’s truth.”
