Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir and Sarkin Katsina of the Gusau Emirate.
This appointment comes following the passing of his father, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Bello, who died on July 25, 2025, after serving as Emir for ten years.
The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, made the announcement, noting that the decision was based on the recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers and in line with traditional customs and legal procedures. Alhaji Abdulkadir, the late Emir’s eldest son, previously held the respected title of Bunun Gusau.
In his message of congratulations, Governor Lawal urged the new Emir to preserve the honorable legacy of his ancestors, particularly as a descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa. He also encouraged the Emir to champion unity, peace, and progress, fostering inclusive development and harmony across the Gusau Emirate.
