Zulum: Boko Haram’s Killing of 63 in Bama Could Have Been Prevented if Ribadu Heeded My Warning

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum expressed deep sorrow and frustration after Boko Haram killed 63 people, including five soldiers, in a brutal attack on Daraj Jamal, Bama LGA. Visiting the affected community, Zulum disclosed that he had previously warned National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu about the military’s inability to tackle the insurgents alone, stating the massacre could have been averted if his advice was followed.

“This tragedy highlights the critical need for additional manpower,” Zulum emphasized, noting that trained forest guards are ready for deployment to bolster security in vulnerable areas. He described the attack as a devastating blow to families recently resettled after years of displacement. Lawmakers, including Senator Kaka Shehu, condemned the killings as a crime against humanity.

The attack underscores the ongoing security challenges in Borno, leaving Daraj Jamal reeling from yet another wave of violence.
