2027: ADELEKE, ACCORD LEADERS RALLY BEHIND TINUBU, REVEAL REASONS FOR ENDORSEMENT

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of the Accord Party have endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the party’s preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The decision was reached during a meeting held in Osogbo, where the governor and party leaders discussed the party’s future, the political situation in the state and preparations ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

According to the party, supporting Tinubu’s second-term bid would provide the opportunity for the administration to complete major infrastructure projects currently underway, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway.

The meeting also focused on the forthcoming Osun governorship election, with party leaders calling for a peaceful electoral process. They cautioned against violence, intimidation, electoral malpractice and the misuse of security agencies during the poll.

In a related development, non-indigenous residents from southern states, Benue and Plateau living in Osun State declared their support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid. The endorsement came during a town hall meeting in Ede, where participants also reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful coexistence and the continued development of the state.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has declared five suspected political thugs wanted over their alleged involvement in recent political violence across the state.

The command said the suspects are being sought in connection with killings and destruction of property recorded during the crisis, which claimed several lives, including that of a teenager in Ilobu.

Police appealed to members of the public to provide useful information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects and urged residents to report any criminal activities to the nearest police station.

Also, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, appealed to Christians to vote based on competence, integrity and leadership qualities rather than religious considerations.

Speaking at a church gathering in Osogbo, Oyebamiji emphasized that democracy thrives when citizens make informed decisions and elect leaders based on their ability to serve the people.

He assured residents that if elected governor, he would uphold the Nigerian Constitution, promote fairness, justice and equity, and protect the rights of all citizens regardless of their religious background.

In preparation for the governorship election, the APC also unveiled a 276-member National Campaign Council headed by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.

The party said the campaign structure includes governors, members of the National Working Committee, lawmakers, ministers and other party leaders, alongside several specialized committees responsible for campaign planning, logistics, security, media, youth and women mobilization.
