Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially joined the 2027 presidential race after obtaining the presidential nomination form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Amaechi, who also served as Nigeria’s immediate past Minister of Transportation, disclosed that the form was purchased on his behalf on Friday by former Edo State Governor and ADC chieftain, John Odigie-Oyegun, at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The nomination forms were later presented to representatives of the former minister by the ADC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Atiku Mohammed.

With the development, Amaechi becomes the second aspirant to officially enter the ADC presidential contest after Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who had earlier obtained both the expression of interest and nomination forms.
The ADC has recently faced internal leadership disputes and several court cases, leading to uncertainty within the party.
The crisis also contributed to the exit of notable politicians, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who both defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
However, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed claims that the defections were caused by the party’s internal crisis, describing the move as a pre-planned political decision.
Despite the ongoing legal battles and leadership disagreements, ADC National Chairman, David Mark, has assured members that the party remains committed to participating fully in the 2027 general elections.
