NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL STUDENT WHO REPORTEDLY TOOK OWN LIFE WAS BARRED FROM FINAL EXAM OVER LOW ATTENDANCE –SCHOOL SOURCE

A student of the Nigerian Law School at the Yola Campus, Ayomiposi Ojajuni, who reportedly died by suicide, did not meet the mandatory seventy five percent attendance requirement needed to sit for the Bar Final Examination, according to campus sources who spoke with SaharaReporters on Sunday.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the tragic incident followed a decision by school authorities to bar Ojajuni from participating in the Bar Final examinations.

A reliable source at the Yola Campus revealed that Ojajuni was not the only student affected, as three other students were also stopped from taking the Call to Bar examination due to different violations.

The source explained that Ojajuni was barred specifically for failing to meet the required attendance threshold, while another student from Bauchi State was excluded after a petition was reportedly filed against him.

Several sources noted that the Nigerian Law School normally releases the list of eligible candidates about two weeks before examinations. This practice is intended to allow students facing genuine medical or attendance related challenges enough time to regularise their records.

However, the school was said to have recently changed this approach by releasing the eligibility list at the last minute, leaving affected students with no chance to address legitimate concerns before the examinations commenced.

Sources told SaharaReporters that Ojajuni, a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, became visibly distressed on Saturday morning December six after discovering that he had been barred from sitting the professional examination, which began that same day.

It was further alleged that shortly after receiving the news, Ojajuni ingested a harmful substance. He was rushed to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola, where he was later pronounced dead on Sunday.
