BORNO MOSQUE ATTACK WILL NOT BREAK NIGERIA’S RESOLVE, SAYS SHETTIMA

Vice President Kashim Shettima has strongly condemned the bomb explosion that killed about two people and injured several others at a mosque in Gamboru Market, Maiduguri, Borno State, describing the attack as a despicable assault on innocent citizens and national peace.

He said the Federal Government has deployed additional tactical teams to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attack, while working closely with state authorities and local security agencies to protect vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure in the North East and other parts of the country.

Shettima stated that the government would not tolerate any attempt to undermine Nigeria’s peace and security, assuring that security agencies are working around the clock to bring the perpetrators to justice. He added that President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate intensification of security operations in Borno State following the incident.

Expressing sympathy with the Borno State Government, residents, and families of the victims, the Vice President reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to national security, unity, and stability. He said the current security framework would not only apprehend those responsible but also uncover the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

The explosion occurred at about 6:10 p.m., less than 12 hours before Christmas, while Muslim worshippers were observing the Maghrib prayer.
