SPEAKER ABBAS, DR. ZANGO MOURN LAWMAKER DANJUMA HASSAN, HAIL LEGISLATIVE LEGACY

 

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, alongside stakeholders across Kano State, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Muhammad Danjuma Hassan, the lawmaker representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency.

 

Hon. Danjuma Hassan, aged 66, passed away on Friday evening after a prolonged illness. His death was confirmed in a statement issued by the House Spokesman, Akin Rotimi, who described him as a distinguished legislative expert whose contributions significantly shaped Nigeria’s lawmaking process.

 

He was widely respected for his expertise in legislative drafting and constitutional processes, earning recognition as one of Nigeria’s foremost legislative counsels. His career, spanning both the National Assembly bureaucracy and elective office, contributed meaningfully to institutional development and governance.

Speaker Abbas extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, his constituents, and the people of Kano State, describing his passing as a major loss to the National Assembly and the nation.

 

Hon. Danjuma Hassan, who was elected into the House of Representatives in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), served as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary. He was also an active member of several strategic committees, including Constitution Review, Aviation, and Public Petitions.

 

Before his election into parliament, he built a distinguished career within the National Assembly, rising through the ranks to become a Permanent Secretary—an experience that shaped his deep understanding of legislative processes and governance.

 

Dr. Zango Mourns

 

Reacting to the news, Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango, a leading APC senatorial aspirant for Kano Central, described the late lawmaker as a seasoned professional and patriot whose life was defined by service, intellect, and commitment to national development.

 

Dr. Zango noted that Hon. Danjuma Hassan’s contributions to legislative drafting and governance would remain a lasting legacy, particularly for Kano Central and the nation at large.

 

He also extended his condolences to the Government and people of Kano State, especially Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, over the loss of a distinguished son of the state.

 

He prayed for the repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

National Patriots Condolence

 

The National Patriots also expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hon. Danjuma Hassan, describing his demise as a huge loss to Kano State and Nigeria.

 

The group noted that the late lawmaker made meaningful contributions during his tenure in the House of Representatives and would be remembered as a dedicated representative who worked diligently to deliver the dividends of democracy to his people.

They described him as a patriot and a man of integrity whose service to the nation reflected responsibility and commitment.

 

The group prayed for Allah’s mercy upon his soul:

 

اللهم اغفر له وارحمه، وعافه واعف عنه، وأكرم نزله، ووسع مدخله، واجعل قبره روضة من رياض الجنة، وارزقه الفردوس الأعلى

(“O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, pardon him, grant him ease, honour his abode, expand his grave, make it a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and grant him Al-Firdaus Al-A’la.”)

 

Hon. Danjuma Hassan is expected to be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

 

His passing marks the end of an era defined by legislative excellence, integrity, and unwavering commitment to national development.
