Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has declined to respond to criticisms from Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, stating that he considers it inappropriate to engage him.

Speaking during an interview on GTA Hausa, Atiku was asked to react to recent remarks by Shettima questioning his achievements, particularly his contributions to the North-East during his time in office. However, Atiku dismissed the comments, saying he would not respond due to what he described as a lack of respect.
He explained that beyond their differences in experience, cultural values in northern Nigeria discourage younger individuals from openly criticizing elders without justification.

Earlier, Shettima had taken aim at Atiku during a political rally in Potiskum, Yobe State, where he accused the former vice president of failing to execute meaningful projects or empower people from his region during his tenure.
Shettima also questioned Atiku’s relationship with some of his associates, suggesting that they did not benefit significantly from their association with him.

Meanwhile, other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) voiced their support for Shettima’s stance at the rally. Former Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, expressed confidence that the party would secure strong support in Yobe State.

Similarly, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, pointed to the large turnout at the rally as a sign of growing backing for the APC ahead of the upcoming elections.
