Kano Police Arrest 193 Suspects in Major Crackdown on Crime Hotspots
The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested 193 suspects following coordinated raids on criminal hideouts and black spots across the state, as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and improve public safety.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Abdullahi, the operations were carried out between April 10 and 12, 2026, under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
The command said the exercise involved simultaneous raids led by area commanders across identified criminal locations in different parts of the state.
A wide range of items were recovered during the operations, including 51 cutlasses, 15 knives, 41 clubs, and several quantities of suspected illicit substances such as Pregabalin, Exol tablets, and dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.

Police authorities said the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue, adding that efforts are being intensified to sustain patrols and surveillance in known flashpoints.
Commissioner Bakori commended the officers involved for their professionalism and praised residents for providing useful information that aided the success of the operations.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring Kano remains safe for residents.
The police also urged members of the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities to the nearest station or through emergency lines for prompt response.
