Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun West Senatorial District have declared an end to internal divisions within the party, as they unanimously endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as their preferred governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
The endorsement was made on Sunday during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held in Ilaro, Ogun State, where party leaders, elected officials, and political stakeholders pledged unity and full support for the project.

The gathering had in attendance top political figures, including Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Minister of State for Health Kunle Salako, members of the House of Representatives such as Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, Gboyega Isiaka, and Tunji Akinosi, as well as several senators and former political office holders across the state.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Governor Salako-Oyedele described the development as a major milestone for Ogun West, praising both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun for their roles in achieving consensus among stakeholders.
She noted that Ogun West had long been politically disadvantaged and expressed optimism that the zone now had a real opportunity to produce the next governor.
Salako-Oyedele also urged the governorship hopeful to ensure inclusiveness, particularly in terms of women participation, while expressing confidence in APC’s chances in the 2027 elections.

The Minister of State for Health, Kunle Salako, also described the moment as historic, saying Ogun West’s long-standing ambition to produce a governor could only be achieved through unity and collective commitment.
Former governorship aspirant, Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, said past disagreements within the party had been resolved, adding that members were now aligned with a common goal.
Ogun West APC Chairman, Alhaji Azeez Ekwueme, commended the zoning arrangement that favoured the district and urged members to remain united behind the consensus candidate.

In his remarks, Senator Adeola expressed gratitude for the endorsement, describing it as a turning point for Ogun West. He said the district had now come together as one political family with a shared vision.
He acknowledged the support of President Tinubu, Governor Abiodun, and other political leaders, noting that the gesture marked a historic moment for the zone after decades of political aspiration.
Adeola, however, stressed that unity must translate into action, urging party members to remain committed to securing victory for APC in the 2027 general elections.
