President Bola Tinubu has approved a series of fresh leadership appointments across major education institutions in Nigeria, including examination and technical education bodies, as part of efforts to improve governance in the sector.

The new appointments affect the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), alongside leadership changes in federal polytechnic and library administration.
He appointed Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu as the new Chairman of the Governing Board of NECO, while Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi remains the Registrar of the council.

For the NBTE, Prof. Babatunde Salako has been named Chairman of the board, while Prof. Idris Bugaje has been reappointed as Executive Secretary for a final five-year term.
In the polytechnic system, Dr Bongfa Binfa has been appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam in Plateau State, for a single five-year tenure, succeeding the outgoing pioneer rector. Before this role, he served as Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.

The President also renewed the appointment of Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as Director-General of the National Library of Nigeria for another five-year term. She has led ongoing reforms aimed at modernizing the institution, including digital library initiatives and national knowledge platforms.

According to the statement, the appointees were selected based on their experience and expected to strengthen reforms and improve service delivery across the education sector.
