Harry and Meghan reportedly consider ‘reverse Megxit’ as they seek to reconnect with UK
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering ways to reconnect with Harry’s British roots and improve their standing in the UK, with the move being described as a possible “plan to reverse Megxit.”
After several years of building a life in the United States, the Sussexes are said to be exploring a return to Britain in some form. However, reports indicate that such a move is neither permanent nor imminent.
Their holiday home in Portugal could reportedly serve as a base during the process, while reconnecting with Harry’s English heritage is said to have become a priority for the couple and their children, Archie and Lilibet.
The reported change in direction follows a recent meeting between Harry and his father, King Charles, at Highgrove House, the Duke of Sussex’s childhood home. The meeting was viewed as a significant development after years of tension within the Royal Family.
The relationship has been strained by events including Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry’s memoir Spare, their Netflix documentary series, and the Duke’s legal battle over his UK security arrangements.
Sources cited in reports claim the Sussexes are now seeking to reverse some aspects of their decision to step back from royal duties.
The end of their deals with Spotify and Netflix has reportedly contributed to the change in circumstances, alongside claims of a decline in Meghan’s popularity among some of her American supporters.
One source said Harry has always maintained a strong connection to England and suggested that the couple initially moved to the US in search of greater independence and commercial opportunities.
The source added that although the Sussexes had enjoyed significant financial success, including a reported $100 million Netflix deal, their American ambitions may now be losing momentum.
Another source claimed Harry may be increasingly interested in returning to Britain and rebuilding his relationship with his family.
The reports do not suggest that Harry and Meghan are planning to separate. Instead, they suggest that Harry may be becoming less willing to follow every decision made by Meghan, with his priorities reportedly shifting towards his family and his British roots.
The Highgrove meeting is therefore being viewed as an important test of whether relations between the Sussexes and the Royal Family can improve.
Harry is also expected to return to the UK for another charity event next month, where another meeting with King Charles could take place.
Attention is expected to turn to the Invictus Games in Birmingham next summer, with reports suggesting that Harry and Meghan may want Archie and Lilibet to participate in some public engagements. King Charles is also expected to be invited.
Meghan’s team has reportedly indicated that she felt saddened by her absence from recent Invictus Games events.
While a permanent return to Britain remains unlikely for now, the reported desire to reconnect with Harry’s English roots and repair relations with the Royal Family could mark a significant shift in the Sussexes’ approach to life in the UK.
