Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has paid a solidarity visit to six soldiers receiving treatment after sustaining injuries during a recent counterterrorism operation in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor, who visited them at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) in Ilorin, praised their bravery, noting that their sacrifice reflected uncommon commitment to national security.
During the operation, three soldiers lost their lives in a fierce exchange with terrorists, while several of the attackers were reportedly neutralised.

AbdulRazaq announced financial support for the affected families and the injured personnel, pledging N20 million each for the families of the fallen soldiers and N5 million each for those currently recuperating.
He described the incident as a targeted attack on military personnel stationed in the area, stressing that it was not directed at civilians.
According to him, security forces have continued to record progress in pushing back criminal elements operating in the region.
“The soldiers and other security agencies are doing their best under very difficult conditions. We are proud of their service and will continue to support them in every way possible,” he said.

The governor also pointed to the difficult terrain and the vast Kainji Forest Reserve as major challenges affecting security operations, noting that criminal groups often exploit the area’s size and porous borders to launch attacks and retreat.
He expressed confidence that ongoing military operations would further weaken the attackers’ presence in the axis.
AbdulRazaq further commended President Bola Tinubu for sustained support to security agencies, adding that collaboration between federal and state authorities remained crucial in addressing insecurity.
He also raised concern about the role of informants in aiding criminal activities, calling for stronger community vigilance and intelligence sharing to curb the threat.
The Governor was received at the hospital by senior health officials and security representatives, who briefed him on the condition of the injured soldiers.
