U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that eight female protesters in Iran, who were reportedly at risk of execution, will no longer be executed following his intervention with Iranian authorities.
In a post shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he was informed that the decision to carry out the executions had been reversed, describing it as a positive development.

He stated that four of the women would be released immediately, while the remaining four would serve a one-month prison sentence instead.
Trump credited Iran’s leadership for responding to his appeal, noting that he had personally urged restraint ahead of expected diplomatic engagements between both countries.
The women were said to have been arrested during anti-government demonstrations that took place in late 2025 and early 2026 across several Iranian cities, fueled by economic challenges and calls for greater civil freedoms.

Although details about the identities of the detainees and the exact charges remain unclear, reports of their sentencing had raised international concern amid ongoing tensions in the region.

The announcement is being viewed as a possible signal of easing tensions ahead of potential talks between Washington and Tehran, although Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed the development.
