MEGHAN MARKLE’S MAJOR U-TURN AS SHE SETTLES ARCHIE AND LILIBET’S ROYAL TITLE DEBATE

Meghan Markle has not trademarked the names of her children, despite recent reports suggesting otherwise, as details from her latest product launch appear to contradict the claims.

Earlier reports had alleged that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex secured trademarks for the names of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet across digital platforms such as emails, domain names, and social media handles.

However, new information indicates that no such trademarks exist. The clarification comes alongside the Duchess’s recent release under her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which unveiled a Mother’s Day collection featuring chocolates and candles inspired by her children.

The candles, initially linked more directly to the children’s royal titles, have now been presented with more subtle descriptions. Rather than referencing titles, the products simply highlight personal inspiration drawn from their birthdates.

One candle is described as being created to honour Lilibet’s June 4 birthday, while another is inspired by Archie’s May 6 birthdate. Notably, their royal titles are absent from the product descriptions, reinforcing the view that their names have not been commercially trademarked.

Industry observers had earlier raised questions about the intent behind the reported trademarks, suggesting that the purpose would matter more than the act itself. The latest development, however, suggests a more personal branding approach rather than a formal commercial claim over the children’s names.

Archie and Lilibet were not given royal titles at birth but became entitled to them in 2022 following the accession of King Charles III, as grandchildren of the monarch.
