MINISTER’S SON SEEKS COURT-ORDERED DNA TEST OVER ALLEGED PATERNITY DENIAL

Marshall Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, has called on the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, to undergo a DNA test following comments that appeared to question their family relationship.

In a statement shared on social media, Marshall expressed disappointment over what he described as a rejection from his biological father. He said the situation was particularly painful at a time when he expected support and guidance.

According to him, his decision to contest for the House of Representatives seat under the NDC platform was driven by a desire to serve the people of his constituency. He maintained that political developments would not change his position regarding his parentage.

Marshall insisted that the minister is his biological father and challenged him to take a DNA test to settle the matter permanently, stating that facts would ultimately reveal the truth.

The controversy gained attention after reports emerged suggesting concerns among political stakeholders that Marshall’s candidacy could influence voting patterns ahead of the 2027 general elections. Questions intensified after comments attributed to the minister’s camp reportedly stated that none of the minister’s sons was participating in the election.

The statement sparked public debate, with many interpreting it as either a denial of Marshall’s claim or an attempt to distance the minister from his political activities.

Further attention has been drawn to earlier allegations circulated on social media, where claims were made regarding the relationship between the minister and Marshall. Some commentators had previously urged both parties to resolve the matter through a DNA test.

Despite growing public interest in the issue, no official statement directly addressing the paternity claim has been released by the minister. Efforts to obtain clarification from those close to him were reportedly unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
