POLICE FOIL SUSPECTED CRIMINAL OPERATION, SEIZE MILITARY CAMOUFLAGE, DRUGS IN LAGOS; FOUR ARRESTED

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four individuals after intercepting a truck transporting military camouflage uniforms and suspected illicit drugs allegedly destined for the South-East region of the country.

The operation was carried out by members of the State Tactical Squad following intelligence reports about the movement of suspicious items through the Lekki-Epe corridor. The truck was stopped while attempting to leave Lagos, leading to the discovery of multiple sacks filled with military camouflage and cartons containing various suspected narcotics.

Police authorities confirmed that four suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to the shipment.

Preliminary investigations suggest the consignment was being transported to an eastern state, although authorities are still working to determine its final destination and intended purpose. Security officials expressed concern over the increasing use of military uniforms by criminal groups involved in violent crimes across different parts of the country.

In a separate operation, police also arrested several foreign nationals during raids on Lagos Island. Those detained include citizens from Chad, Burkina Faso, Benin Republic, Mali, Togo, Cameroon, and Guinea. Investigators said many of the individuals could not provide satisfactory explanations regarding their activities in Nigeria.

The suspects are currently undergoing profiling and are expected to be transferred to immigration authorities for further investigation and necessary action.

Meanwhile, security operatives recovered a cache of firearms during an operation in the Ijanikin area following reports from residents about suspicious movements within a local estate. The raid led to the seizure of two double-barrel guns and six locally fabricated firearms.

The command also announced progress in its crackdown on “one chance” robbery syndicates. Several suspects linked to the criminal network have been arrested, while detectives continue efforts to track down an alleged financier believed to be coordinating and funding the operations.

Authorities further disclosed that investigations remain ongoing into a recent explosion in the Mushin area, with forensic experts examining materials recovered from the scene to establish the cause of the incident.

In another development, police confirmed they are investigating a case involving a parcel delivered to a top banking executive that reportedly contained live ammunition. Detectives are examining available leads, although no arrests have been made so far.

The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to strengthening security operations and tackling criminal activities across the state.
