ECONOMY: GOVT SHOULD MAKE ITS PLANS KNOWN TO NIGERIANS TO BOOST CONFIDENCE – ALAJE

Economic analyst Paul Alaje has urged the Federal Government to communicate its economic plans more clearly and consistently to Nigerians, saying transparency is essential for building public trust and investor confidence.

Speaking on the state of the economy, Alaje noted that citizens and businesses are more likely to support government reforms when they understand the objectives, expected outcomes, and implementation strategies behind key policies. He stressed that uncertainty often fuels speculation and weakens confidence in economic programmes.

According to him, clear communication from policymakers would enable Nigerians to make informed financial and business decisions while encouraging greater participation in the country’s economic development.

Alaje explained that confidence plays a critical role in economic growth, investment attraction, and consumer spending. He added that when government policies are well-articulated and predictable, both local and foreign investors are more willing to commit resources to productive sectors of the economy.

The economist also emphasised the need for authorities to provide regular updates on policy implementation, economic targets, and progress made toward achieving national development goals. Such openness, he said, would strengthen accountability and reassure Nigerians that reforms are yielding tangible results.

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions about Nigeria’s economic reforms, growth projections, inflation management, and efforts to attract investment into key sectors of the economy.
