The Renewed Hope Ambassadors and members of the Presidential Communications Team have continued their National Media Tour with an inspection of major federal and state government projects across Kogi State.
The delegation visited the Kabba Junction section of the Abuja–Lokoja Expressway, which also serves as the starting point of the Lokoja–Benin Expressway project.
Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Barrister Salami Ozigi Dedaat, said the Abuja–Lokoja road had suffered years of neglect due to abandonment by previous administrations but is now receiving attention under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He explained that the highway has been divided into five sections, with different contractors assigned to each section to ensure faster completion. He also praised the President for approving the road project and other development initiatives in the state.
The team also visited the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, where they inspected ongoing and completed projects supported by both federal and state governments.
The university’s Director of Administration, Mohammed Ahmed, disclosed that the Federal Government, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), financed the construction of several facilities, including the Faculty of Science Complex, Faculty of Environmental Sciences Complex, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences Complex, and the Faculty of Anatomy, with a combined value exceeding N2.3 billion.
He added that TETFund has also supported the institution through the 2025 Special Intervention Programme by providing a female hostel, maintenance projects and assistance for academic and research activities.
The delegation further inspected the Barefoot Renewable Energy College and the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant established at the university by the Energy Commission of Nigeria.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, who led the delegation, said the developments at CUSTECH reflect the impact of government reforms and increased investment in education, science and technology.
Dare stated that investment in science and technology is essential for Nigeria’s future economy, adding that the progress witnessed at the university shows the importance of continuity in governance and collaboration between past and present administrations.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Engagement, Strategy and New Media, Otega Ogra, said the renewable energy projects would help equip Nigerian youths with practical skills needed for the installation, operation and maintenance of clean energy systems.
He noted that the Barefoot Renewable Energy College is the second of its kind globally after India, while the hydrogen research facility is among the few such facilities in Africa.
The team also inspected projects in Kogi West Senatorial District, including developments at Kogi State University, Kabba, Mopa Primary Health Centre, completed internal roads in Kabba-Bunu and an erosion control project under the Agro-Climatic Resilience initiative.
Earlier, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Olorunfemi Fanwo, said the state government’s Rebrand Initiative was designed to improve the state’s image through infrastructure development and people-focused programmes.
