Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has been recognised for his administration’s approach to public resource management and transparent governance.
Lawal received the Blueprint Newspapers 2026 Efficient Public Resource Management and Transparency Award at the eighth edition of the newspaper’s Annual Public Lecture, Impact Series and Awards in Abuja.
The event, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, focused on the theme, “Security Challenges and Integrity of Nigeria’s 2027 Elections.”
Speaking after receiving the award, Lawal expressed appreciation to the management of Blueprint Newspapers, describing the recognition as evidence that his administration’s efforts in Zamfara were being noticed beyond the state.
The governor said his administration had recorded progress in several sectors during its first three years, including security, education, healthcare, the economy, human capital development and infrastructure.
He attributed the achievements to what he described as a transparent approach to governance and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing efforts to rebuild and develop Zamfara.
Blueprint Newspapers said the award was based on Lawal’s management of public resources, fiscal accountability and commitment to transparent administration.
According to the newspaper, the recognition highlights the importance of responsible management of public funds and the role of fiscal discipline in promoting inclusive development.
Managing Director of Blueprint Newspapers Limited, Salisu Umar, described Lawal as a combination of professional experience and public service.
Umar noted that the governor’s background in diplomacy, banking and politics had provided him with experience relevant to governance, financial management and institutional leadership.
The award ceremony attracted policymakers, political leaders, security officials and other stakeholders who gathered to discuss the country’s security situation and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
