President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed speculation about his health, saying he is healthy, sound and ready to resume his official duties.
The President made the remarks on Tuesday after returning to Lagos from an extended working vacation in Europe.
Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week vacation, initially travelling to London before proceeding to Paris, France. His stay was later extended by a few days.
Speaking to journalists after his arrival at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Tinubu said there was nothing wrong with his health and described the rumours as politically motivated.
He said he was ready to return to work and continue with his responsibilities.
“I’m here, healthy, sound and ready to go,” the President said.
Tinubu’s prolonged absence from the country had generated public discussion, including questions about his health and the constitutional implications of his extended stay abroad.
The President is now back in Nigeria and is expected to resume official engagements ahead of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1.
