FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that he will resign from his position if President Bola Tinubu fails to win the 2027 presidential election in both the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State.
Wike made the declaration on Wednesday during a meeting with members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja.
The minister said he was confident of delivering the two territories for Tinubu, stressing that his continued stay in office would depend on the outcome of the election.
According to Wike, if Tinubu loses the FCT, where he currently serves as minister, he would not consider himself deserving of remaining in the position.
He further stated that he would announce his resignation on January 17, 2027, if the President loses in both Rivers State and the FCT.
Wike also spoke about his plans to mobilise political support across the FCT ahead of the election. He said the coalition would involve individuals from different political parties working toward electoral victories for candidates supporting Tinubu.
The minister reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s re-election and also endorsed former FCT Senator Philip Aduda for the Senate.
