Ivorian influencer and beauty entrepreneur Fatim Bakayoko has reportedly died in Nigeria, with conflicting accounts emerging over the circumstances surrounding her death.

Bakayoko, known for her social media presence and involvement in the beauty and wellness industry in Côte d’Ivoire, reportedly travelled to Nigeria before her death. Her passing has sparked widespread reactions among followers and members of the Ivorian online community.

Initial reports claimed that the socialite travelled to Nigeria to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). This cosmetic procedure involves removing fat from parts of the body and transferring it to the buttocks. According to the initial account, she reportedly died following complications from the procedure.
The claim was first circulated by French-language outlet Scoop Afrique and was subsequently picked up by several other media platforms and social media users.
However, the circumstances surrounding Bakayoko’s death remain unclear, as a member of her family has reportedly disputed the BBL claim.

According to reports, her husband told Scoop Afrique that Bakayoko travelled to Nigeria for personal care and did not undergo plastic surgery.
He also reportedly said that her body remained in Nigeria and that the exact cause of her death had not yet been established.
Scoop Afrique subsequently acknowledged that its initial report had relied on information from a single source and had been published before the outlet contacted Bakayoko’s husband.
The conflicting accounts have raised questions about what actually happened to the Ivorian entrepreneur while she was in Nigeria.

As of the latest reports, there is no confirmed medical or official statement establishing that Bakayoko underwent a BBL or that a cosmetic procedure was responsible for her death.
Bakayoko was reportedly associated with the beauty and wellness sector in Abidjan and had built a significant presence through her business activities and social media content.
News of her reported death has generated an outpouring of tributes and reactions online, while questions continue to surround the circumstances of her passing.
The case has also triggered renewed discussions about cosmetic surgery and medical tourism in West Africa. However, it would be premature to attribute Bakayoko’s death to a BBL or any other cosmetic procedure without verified medical evidence.
For now, her reported death in Nigeria remains the confirmed aspect of the story, while the precise cause and circumstances of her death await further clarification from her family, medical authorities or other relevant officials.
