Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has renewed his criticism of his former political ally and predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, questioning the latter’s electoral influence since their political relationship broke down.

Wike made the remark while taking another swipe at Amaechi, challenging him to identify an election he had won since their political split.
“Since I abandoned you, tell me one election you have won,” Wike said in a statement that has attracted attention amid renewed political activities and realignments.
The comment highlights the deep political rivalry that has developed between the two prominent figures in Rivers State politics.
Wike and Amaechi were once closely associated politically. Wike served as Amaechi’s Chief of Staff during Amaechi’s tenure as governor of Rivers State. Their relationship, however, later deteriorated, eventually leading to a prolonged political battle over influence and control in the state.

The latest remarks come at a time of increasing political manoeuvring ahead of future elections, with politicians and their supporters reassessing alliances and political strategies.
Wike’s supporters have interpreted the statement as a reminder of his continued political relevance and influence in Rivers State. They argue that his electoral record demonstrates the strength of his political structure.
Supporters of Amaechi, however, have criticised the comment, describing it as an unnecessary provocation and another chapter in the long-running dispute between the two former allies.
The rivalry between Wike and Amaechi has remained one of the most prominent political conflicts in Rivers State and the wider South-South region, with both camps continuing to maintain competing political interests.
Wike’s latest challenge therefore comes against the backdrop of ongoing political realignments, as various political actors position themselves for upcoming electoral contests and seek to consolidate their influence.
