BWALA RIDICULES NDC’S LIST OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL MEMBERS

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) over the composition of its National Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.

Bwala argued that the list released by the opposition party was dominated by content creators. He also questioned the absence of publicly identified media representatives from mainstream broadcasting organisations.

In a post on his X account on Sunday, October 25, Bwala said the council included content creators while accusing the party of concealing the identities of individuals he described as its media surrogates operating behind the scenes in mainstream broadcasting.

His comments followed the NDC’s announcement of its campaign council as political parties begin organising their structures ahead of the 2027 elections.

The NDC appointed its National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, as chairman of the council, while its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was named co-chairman.

The party’s National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, was appointed vice-chairman, while its vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was named co-vice-chairman.

Other appointments include Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu as council secretary and Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim as director-general of the presidential campaign.

The council also features several prominent political figures, including former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, former presidential candidate Pat Utomi and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, who was named chairman of the National Campaign Advisory Council.

The NDC said the council would provide strategic direction, coordinate nationwide campaign activities and mobilise support for its candidates. It also pledged to pursue a people-centred and issue-based campaign.

Bwala’s remarks have added to the political debate surrounding the party’s preparations for the next general elections, as political actors continue to scrutinise one another’s campaign strategies and organisational decisions.
