The group said the council’s membership raised questions about the direction of the opposition party’s campaign and its approach to building a broad political coalition ahead of the elections.

The criticism followed the NDC’s announcement of its campaign structure, which features several prominent political figures, including its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and its National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
The party appointed Dickson as chairman of the National Campaign Council, while Obi was named co-chairman. The National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, was appointed vice-chairman, with the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, serving as co-vice-chairman.

Other appointments include Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim as director-general of the presidential campaign and Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu as council secretary.
The OK Movement’s objections have added to the debate surrounding the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with questions emerging over the party’s leadership arrangements and campaign strategy.
The campaign council is expected to coordinate the party’s nationwide activities, mobilise supporters and provide strategic direction for its presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assembly candidates.

As political parties continue to prepare for the next general elections, the composition of campaign teams and the selection of key officials remain important issues in discussions about electoral strategy and party organisation.
