AIR FORCE WAR COLLEGE LAUNCHES STRATEGIC BATTLEFIELD REVIEW TO UPGRADE ANTI-TERROR OPERATIONS

Participants of Air War Course 12/2026 from the Air Force War College Nigeria (AFWCN) have completed a National Study Tour across Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States aimed at improving strategic understanding of security challenges in the North-West region.

ADS 5    The exercise focused on strengthening operational awareness of threats such as terrorism, banditry, and other asymmetric security issues, while also assessing how air power and state resources can support national development and security operations.

According to the Commandant of AFWCN, Air Vice Marshal G.A. Mbaka, participants were split into three teams deployed across the selected states to ensure wider coverage and deeper field assessment of ongoing security conditions.

He explained that the tour provided direct engagement with military formations, security agencies, traditional leaders, government officials, and critical infrastructure operators to better understand real-time operational challenges.

The study also highlighted the importance of air power in intelligence gathering, surveillance, rapid response operations, and the protection of key national assets in vulnerable areas.

Officials noted that the initiative reinforces the Nigerian Air Force’s strategy of combining kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to improve security outcomes while strengthening cooperation with local communities.

State authorities across the visited regions commended the programme, describing it as timely and relevant to current security realities, and pledged continued collaboration with security agencies.

The exercise forms part of the Air War Course curriculum designed to prepare future commanders with advanced strategic insight and operational readiness.
