The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that the sale of nomination forms for the 2027 general elections will officially begin on April 25, alongside a detailed timetable outlining the party’s primary election activities.
According to party officials, presidential aspirants will pay N70 million for nomination forms and N30 million for expression of interest forms. The announcement followed a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), where the revised schedule was reviewed and communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party stated that the sale of forms will run until May 2, while submissions will close on May 4. Screening of aspirants for legislative and governorship positions is scheduled for May 6 to May 8, with presidential screening set for May 9.
Primary elections will follow a staggered timeline: House of Representatives on May 15, Senate on May 18, State Houses of Assembly on May 20, governorship on May 21, and presidential primaries on May 23, 2026.
APC spokesperson Durosinmi Meseko dismissed reports suggesting that nomination forms would be limited to selected individuals, insisting that the process remains open to all qualified party members. He added that the party has adopted both direct and consensus primary options, though any consensus arrangement must be unanimously agreed upon by aspirants.
The party also confirmed that internal congresses in Zamfara State will begin on April 28, covering ward, local government, and state levels as part of its broader internal restructuring ahead of the elections.
Meanwhile, following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, governors including Umar Bago and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness, assuring that the APC is committed to a transparent and orderly primary process ahead of the polls.
