Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has celebrated her 57th birthday with a heartfelt message of gratitude and a private celebration shared on social media.
The minister, who turned 57 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, reflected on her journey through life, saying she was thankful for the lessons, strength and grace that have shaped her over the years.
Sharing photos from the celebration on Instagram, Bianca wrote:
“Another trip around the sun… Today I don’t just count the candles, I count the lessons. I am grateful for the strength I didn’t know I had, the peace I fought to find, and grace under pressure. God is truly faithful.
“Today, I also honour the incredible people in my life who have supported and inspired me. Thank you for being part of my journey. Here’s to getting more done, cherishing those memories, and continuing to evolve. Happy Birthday to me.”
As part of the celebration, Bianca spent time aboard a luxury white yacht, enjoying a relaxing cruise on the open sea. Videos from the outing showed the minister dancing, smiling and celebrating with close friends and loved ones.
The birthday comes just months after she was seen vacationing in Zanzibar, where she enjoyed boat cruises across the Indian Ocean.
Born on August 5, 1968, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu is the daughter of the late Christian Onoh, a former governor of the old Anambra State. She studied law in the United Kingdom before completing her law degree at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
She first gained national recognition after winning the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant in 1988 and later became the first African woman to win the Miss Intercontinental title.
Bianca is also the widow of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the former military officer and leader of the defunct Republic of Biafra.
Over the years, she has built an impressive career in public service, serving as Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs under former President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana, Ambassador to Spain, and Permanent Representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
She currently serves as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, where she oversees the country’s diplomatic relations and foreign policy.
