BREAKING: GUNMEN KIDNAP WOMAN FROM LAGOS HOME AFTER OVERPOWERING GUARD, DEMAND N60MILLION RANSOM

A kidnapping incident in Lagos has heightened concerns about safety in residential areas after a woman was abducted from her home in the early hours of Tuesday.

Mrs. Olanike Ogundare was reportedly taken at about 1:00 a.m. from her residence at No. 1 Olufemi Ogundare Street in the Oke Agaye area of Ijedodo.

According to accounts from the neighbourhood, the attackers carried out a coordinated operation, overpowering the security guard on duty at gunpoint before whisking the victim away to an unknown destination.

The incident has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Community leaders and local security stakeholders have also been mobilised, including Gani Adams, leader of the Oodua People’s Congress.

Sources familiar with the development said the abductors have contacted the family twice, demanding a ransom of ₦60 million for her release.

The kidnapping, which occurred within a residential compound with security presence, has further raised an alarm among residents over what many describe as growing boldness among criminal elements operating in the state.

Concerned stakeholders have called on the Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to prioritise the case and deploy intelligence-led strategies to secure the victim’s safe release and apprehend those responsible.
