British boxer Chris Eubank Jr has hinted at a return to the ring following surgery after his points defeat in a rematch with Conor Benn last November.
The former world title contender has been absent from competitive action since undergoing medical treatment, but recently shared footage of himself in Nigeria, where he was seen being warmly received by a crowd of young fans.
Nigerian promoter Dr Ezekiel Adamu says there is growing ambition to stage a major international boxing event in the country, with Eubank Jr identified as a potential headline attraction.
He said boxing in Africa is experiencing strong growth, with Nigeria positioned as a key hub for the sport’s development.
“Boxing in Africa is going from strength to strength — and Nigeria is at the heart of it,” Adamu said.
He added that the country has the talent, resources, and institutional backing to host world-class boxing events and attract global stars.

“We can make Nigeria the global home of boxing, bringing international superstars here and showcasing our homegrown talent,” he said.
Adamu confirmed that discussions have already taken place with government stakeholders and expressed optimism about staging a major bout in Lagos.
“We hope the next time we see Chris Eubank Jr in the ring, it will be in Lagos,” he added.
He also described Eubank Jr as one of boxing’s biggest global attractions, suggesting there is a strong possibility of a landmark event being organised in Nigeria.
Eubank Jr, who previously stopped Liam Smith in a rematch and defeated Conor Benn on points in their first meeting, had been building momentum toward another world title opportunity before his recent setback.
