Justice Maimuna Abubakar of Niger State High Court 6 has issued an arrest warrant for the Managing Director of Polaris Bank, Omokayode Lawal, and the Minna Branch Manager over allegations of contempt of court.
The arrest order follows a case filed by the Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS), led by Muhammad Ndayako, accusing the bank officials of tax evasion amounting to over N1 billion.
During the court session, the defendants failed to appear despite being summoned. Justice Abubakar ruled that their absence and failure to honor the court summons constituted contempt. She directed the police to ensure their immediate arrest.
The case has been adjourned to December 13, 2024, for the arraignment of the defendants.
