Sani said the party had taken the appropriate step by appealing the judgment through the established legal process. However, he advised its leaders to exercise restraint and avoid statements capable of undermining public confidence in the judicial system.

The former lawmaker also called on ADC supporters to stop insulting judges and making what he described as false and baseless allegations against members of the judiciary.
In a post on his official X account on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Sani reacted to the party’s decision to appeal the judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on November 5, 2026.
The court had nullified the leadership of the ADC led by former Senate President, David Mark, ruling that the process through which the leadership emerged violated the party’s constitution and relevant legal provisions.

The judgment also invalidated decisions taken by the Mark-led leadership, including the party’s presidential primary process, which produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
Following the ruling, the ADC filed a notice of appeal at the Court of Appeal on November 6, alongside an application seeking a stay of execution pending the determination of the appeal.
The party also notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the legal action, urging the commission to suspend further steps relating to the matter until the appellate court delivers its decision.

Reacting, Sani maintained that having approached the appellate court, the party should allow the judicial process to take its course rather than resort to verbal attacks against judges.
He wrote:
“Now that they have appealed their case, that is the right thing to do. The next step is to restrain their tongues against the judiciary, and appeal to their supporters to stop insulting judges or making false and baseless allegations against them.
“After submitting your thesis, avoid insulting your supervisor.”
Sani’s comments come amid growing political reactions to the court judgment, which has generated controversy over the ADC’s leadership structure and its preparations for the 2027 general election.
