A Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to deliver judgment today in a case filed by the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), seeking an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register it as a political party.

The ADA has accused the electoral body of unfair treatment, alleging that it met all statutory requirements for registration but was sidelined while other associations were approved. The group’s national secretary, Dr Umar Ardo, described the situation as discriminatory and inconsistent with INEC’s standards.
In a separate political development, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is expected to formally declare his presidential ambition on May 14 during a rally scheduled to hold at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.

The event, tagged “Unity Mega Rally Ibadan 2026,” is also expected to mark the unveiling of a political arrangement involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), alongside other allied political interests.

Sources say preparations for the rally have intensified, with political supporters and grassroots mobilisers already positioning ahead of what is expected to be a major political gathering in the South-West.

The planned declaration is seen as part of broader political realignments aimed at strengthening support structures ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly within Oyo State and across the region.

Although Governor Makinde has not publicly confirmed his presidential ambition, his supporters and political allies have continued to build momentum around a possible national bid.
