The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s (NPF) capacity to combat cybercrime and safeguard Nigeria’s cyberspace.
This statement followed the successful operation by police operatives attached to the Zone 7 Command and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja, which led to the arrest of 113 foreign nationals involved in various cybercrimes, including internet fraud and marketing scams.
Arrest and Seizures
The suspects were apprehended on November 3, 2024, in Jahi, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Investigations uncovered substantial evidence, and several digital tools believed to be instrumental to the syndicate’s operations were recovered.
Items seized included:
- Vehicles: 1 Black Toyota Tundra.
- Electronics: Laptops, smartphones, tablets, desktop computers, keyboards, and a Harman/Kardon sound system.
- Networking Equipment: Routers from brands like MTN, Huawei, Airtel, D-Link, and Starlink.
- Gaming Devices: 1 Sony PlayStation 5 and gaming accessories.
- Cyber Tools: High-capacity servers, drones, and specialized cyber equipment.
- Identification Documents: International passports, ID cards, and travel documents.
These items are believed to have facilitated cybercrime activities such as unauthorized data breaches, marketing scams, and other transnational offenses.
Legal Action
The suspects have been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja, facing charges including:
- Computer-related fraud.
- Unauthorized access to data.
- Marketing scams.
- Money laundering.
- Conspiracy.
- Illegal immigration.
The investigation also uncovered links to human trafficking and other cross-border criminal activities, highlighting the global reach and sophistication of the syndicate.

The Nigeria Police Force emphasized its commitment to partnering with international law enforcement agencies and embassies to track, apprehend, and prosecute cybercriminals.
