DADDY SHOWKEY REVEALS AKPABIO’S ROLE IN HIS RECOVERY FROM SPINAL INJURY

Daddy Showkey recounts how Akpabio helped him recover after car crash

Veteran Nigerian singer John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has recounted how Senate President Godswill Akpabio supported him after a car accident left him unable to walk for about three years.

The Galala singer shared the experience while speaking on The Podcast Network, revealing that the accident severely damaged his spine and kept him bedridden for years.

According to Daddy Showkey, the crash occurred before he later faced alleged assassination attempts, with Akpabio among the first people to come to his aid.

He said the Senate President, who was then a friend and later served as Governor of Akwa Ibom State, helped him get medical attention and remained involved throughout his treatment.

“My spine failed. I could not walk for three years. I had a car accident. It was before the assassination attempts. When I had that car accident, the person who first came to my rescue was Godswill Akpabio,” he said.

Daddy Showkey said Akpabio helped take him to the hospital, where he spent about three years receiving treatment.

“He helped me to go to the hospital, and I was in hospital for three years. He played a lot of roles. I knew him before he became a commissioner, and he is a true friend. When that thing happened to me, if not for Godswill Akpabio, I would not have walked again,” he added.

The veteran artiste said his relationship with Akpabio dates back several decades, long before the latter became a commissioner.

He described Akpabio as a trusted friend whose intervention and support played a significant role in his recovery from the spinal injury.
