EFCC Recovers ₦115bn, $84m From 24 Oil Companies Over Unpaid NDDC Levies
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered more than ₦115 billion and $84 million in outstanding levies owed to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by 24 oil companies.
The recovery followed an investigation by the anti-graft agency into unpaid statutory levies due to the NDDC by companies operating in the oil and gas sector.
The funds represent outstanding financial obligations that had remained unpaid by the affected companies. The EFCC’s intervention was aimed at ensuring that the companies meet their statutory responsibilities and that money meant for development in the Niger Delta region is properly recovered.
The development is expected to strengthen the NDDC’s ability to fund projects and programmes targeted at improving infrastructure and the welfare of communities across the Niger Delta.
The recovery also highlights the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to address financial irregularities and ensure compliance with laws governing statutory payments in the country.
The agency has continued to work with relevant government institutions to track unpaid obligations, recover public funds and promote greater accountability among businesses operating in strategic sectors of the Nigerian economy.
