The endorsement was contained in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka, who said the decision followed consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across the state.

According to the statement, Malami will lead the party’s governorship ticket in Kebbi, while other candidates were also affirmed for senatorial positions in Kebbi Central, North, and South.

The ADC said its selections were aimed at promoting leadership anchored on governance, security, justice, and development in the state.

Malami, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, remains a controversial political figure due to allegations linked to his time in office as Attorney-General.

He is currently facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged money laundering involving billions of naira, charges he has consistently denied.

The EFCC had accused him of abuse of office, money laundering, and unlawful enrichment related to transactions allegedly carried out during his tenure.

Despite the ongoing legal process, Malami maintains that the allegations against him are politically motivated.

His emergence as ADC governorship candidate is expected to generate significant political debate in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 elections.
