The Federal Government has allocated N2 billion for fueling the operational vehicles of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) in the proposed 2025 budget. The details were revealed as part of President Bola Tinubu’s N47.90 trillion “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity” presented to the National Assembly on December 18.
Key Security Allocations
The budget earmarks a substantial N4.91 trillion for defence and security, reflecting the administration’s prioritization of addressing Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.
Breakdown of Allocations:
- EFCC:
- N808.7 million for vehicle fueling.
- N462 million for refreshments and meals.
- DSS:
- N1.37 billion for vehicle fueling.
- N1.4 billion for tactical counter-terrorism equipment.
- N1.4 billion for arms and ammunition.
- N1.1 billion for cybersecurity tools.
In addition, the DSS and other agencies under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) have allocated N960 billion for maintaining defence aircraft and acquiring security equipment to bolster national defence capabilities.
