Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has dissolved his cabinet, including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Muhammad Ubandona-Aliyu, and all commissioners.
The announcement was made through a statement issued on Friday in Lafia by Mohammed Illiyasu-Idde, Permanent Secretary for Cabinet Affairs and Special Duties in the Office of the SSG.
The statement confirmed that the dissolution takes effect immediately, as of Friday, January 3, 2025.
“All outgoing commissioners are directed to hand over the affairs of their ministries and all government property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries,” the statement read. It also instructed the outgoing SSG to transfer responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary for Cabinet Affairs and Special Services.
Governor Sule expressed gratitude to the outgoing appointees for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
A senior government official, speaking anonymously, revealed that while the exact reasons for the dissolution remain unclear, Governor Sule has a history of administrative restructuring. In 2021, he similarly dissolved the executive council, citing the need to enhance governance effectiveness.
As Nasarawa residents await further details, many are keen to understand the implications of this decision and the future trajectory of the state’s administration.
