‘I WILL TAKE REVENGE’: GRIEVING ZAMFARA BOY VOWS TO JOIN ARMY AFTER BANDITS KILL FATHER

A young boy from Zamfara State has captured public attention after expressing his determination to join the Nigerian Army in the future following the tragic killing of his father by suspected bandits.

The boy, identified as Umar and said to be from a village in Magami area of Gusau Local Government Area, shared his painful experience in a video that has been widely circulated online.

Speaking in Hausa, Umar recounted how his father was killed during an attack that left a lasting impact on his life. According to him, the traumatic event strengthened his desire to become a soldier when he grows older.

While narrating the incident, Umar explained that his father had returned from farming activities and visited the market to purchase food items for the family. He said his father had planned for the family to share a meal together before tragedy struck.

According to the young boy, his father later left to obtain additional ingredients needed for the meal but never made it back home.

Umar alleged that armed attackers intercepted and killed him before he could return to his family. He further claimed that the attackers later invaded their home, creating a terrifying situation for family members.

Reflecting on the experience, the boy said witnessing the attack and the loss of his father deeply affected him and influenced his future aspirations.

When asked about his ambitions, Umar stated that he hopes to become a soldier, explaining that the violence he witnessed motivated his desire to serve in the military and confront those responsible for attacks on innocent people.

Despite expressing a desire for justice, he also offered prayers for his late father and other victims of violence, asking for mercy upon those who have lost their lives.

The emotional account has generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy for the young boy and concern over the continued insecurity affecting communities in parts of the country.

Zamfara remains one of the states most impacted by armed banditry in Nigeria’s North-West region. Over the years, numerous communities have experienced attacks involving killings, abductions, displacement of residents, and the destruction of property and livelihoods.

Security challenges in the region continue to pose significant concerns for authorities and residents alike as efforts to curb criminal activities remain ongoing.
