Etaifo will oversee security arrangements for the poll in collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with the Electoral Act, the Code of Conduct for security personnel on election duty and other applicable laws.

The police also assured residents that adequate security measures have been put in place across the state to safeguard lives, property and sensitive electoral materials before, during and after the election.

The command said officers deployed for election duty had been instructed to remain impartial, professional and respectful of the rights of all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations.

It also warned political parties, candidates and their supporters against any actions capable of disrupting public peace.

The police stressed that offences such as electoral violence, vote buying, voter intimidation, the spread of false information and any other form of criminal activity would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
