IRAN CEASEFIRE ‘IS OVER’ — TRUMP

U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran is effectively over following renewed military exchanges between both sides.

Speaking on Wednesday during the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump criticized Iran in strong terms after the United States carried out overnight strikes on Iranian targets and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards responded by launching attacks on U.S. military bases in the Gulf region.

Trump said he no longer believes there is any value in continuing engagement with Tehran, insisting that the ceasefire has come to an end.

He also accused Iran’s leadership of posing a serious global security threat, arguing that the country cannot be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

Despite his remarks, Trump disclosed that he would still consult with businessman and diplomatic envoy Steve Witkoff, as well as his son-in-law Jared Kushner, both of whom have been involved in discussions with Iranian officials.

However, he stressed that it is now Iran’s responsibility to return to negotiations if it seeks a diplomatic solution.

The U.S. president further alleged that Iranian officials repeatedly misrepresented the terms of the ceasefire agreement reached on June 17, accusing them of failing to honour commitments made during the negotiations.

Trump claimed that while both sides had agreed Iran should not possess nuclear weapons, Iranian representatives later denied that the issue had even been part of the discussions.

His comments came amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, with global markets reacting as oil prices climbed sharply following the renewed conflict and uncertainty surrounding the ceasefire.
