Kwankwasiyya to Engage INEC Over Exclusion of Kano NDC Governorship Candidate
The Kwankwasiyya Movement has expressed confidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will resolve the omission of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and his running mate, Mustapha Rabi’u Kwankwaso, from the final list of candidates for the 2027 governorship election.
The movement said it would engage with the electoral commission and explore the legal options available to address the development within the period permitted by electoral law.
Speaking on the matter, Kwankwasiyya spokesperson Habibu Mohammed said the omission came as a surprise because, according to the movement, the candidates had fulfilled the necessary requirements for participation in the election.
Mohammed maintained that the movement was not aware of any court judgment or pending legal issue that would explain their exclusion from the list published by INEC.
He suggested that an administrative error could be responsible for the development but noted that the commission had not provided an official explanation for the omission.
The spokesperson said the movement would use the available legal and administrative procedures to seek a resolution, expressing optimism that the names of the candidates would be restored to the list.
The development has raised concerns among NDC supporters in Kano as political parties prepare for the 2027 governorship election.
