The Kano State Police Command has arrested six individuals in connection with a violent attack on the popular Farm Centre mobile phone market in Kano metropolis on Monday.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, and confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the suspects were apprehended following a swift response to a distress call about a planned clash by suspected thugs.

Police reports indicate that officers arrived at the scene to find rival groups engaged in a violent confrontation. During the chaos, an ambulance was damaged, and attempts were made to attack other nearby locations.
The situation escalated when the suspected hoodlums reportedly regrouped and turned on police operatives, attacking them with stones and other dangerous objects. The officers successfully repelled the assault, forcing the attackers to flee toward Farm Centre Market, where they attempted to break into shops and loot property.

Reinforcement teams were later deployed, restoring order and dispersing the attackers. Authorities confirmed that calm has since returned to the affected areas.
The police commissioner warned against acts of thuggery and public disorder, stressing that such behaviour will not be tolerated in Kano State. He also urged parents and guardians to caution their children against involvement in criminal activities, noting that offenders will be prosecuted.

He commended the officers for their professionalism and quick response, which helped prevent further destruction and loss of property. Investigations are ongoing to arrest other suspects who escaped and to identify those behind the coordinated attack.
