Lagos Free Zone Named Best Free Trade Zone in West Africa at Regional Awards
The Lagos Free Zone (LFZ) has been recognised as the Best Free Trade Zone in West Africa at the West African Brands Excellence Awards held in Lagos.
The award was presented at an event organised by the Institute of Brand Management of Nigeria (IBMN), which brought together industry stakeholders to celebrate outstanding business performance across the sub-region.
According to the organisers, the selection followed a thorough evaluation process conducted by a panel of jurors who assessed nominated organisations based on impact, performance, and contribution to economic development.
The convener of the awards and Deputy Registrar of IBMN, Ifeoma Emeka, said LFZ stood out clearly in its category due to its growing influence on regional economic activity.
She noted that the Lagos Free Zone has played a significant role in attracting investment and driving industrial development, particularly within the Ibeju-Lekki corridor, which has seen a surge in business activity in recent years.
“In the last few years, the zone has provided a sense of reassurance for investors by offering incentives and world-class infrastructure that help them achieve good returns,” she said.
She added that the zone’s contribution to foreign direct investment has made it an important driver of economic growth in Nigeria and across West Africa.
Reacting to the recognition, the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone, Dinesh Rathi, described the award as a reflection of the zone’s rising profile as a leading investment destination in the region.
He said the honour underscores the commitment of the organisation’s team to supporting economic development and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Rathi added that the achievement would further motivate the company to deepen its contribution to the economic prosperity of Nigeria and West Africa as a whole.
